Celebrating 100 Half-marathons

Celebrating 100 Half-marathons

There is one participant next weekend who will be celebrating his 100th half-marathon. Mark Alcorn says he is "still enjoying the comraderie with other runners/walkers and the atmosphere of - we are in this together".

Mark's first taste of this distance was 29 years ago at the Lyndale half-marathon at Blockhouse Bay in December 1987. "I keep coming back to Taupo which is the events capital of the North Island and such an iconic events centre. It is a friendly town and so scenic with our Great Lake in the foreground and of course Mt Ruapehu in the background. I wish everyone a great event next weekend and may you reach your individual goals whatever they may be”.
